In 1903, Robert and Lizzie Foster settled in Medina County, Texas, just west of Devine. While Robert
was from Alabama, Lizzie was a Medina County girl, a DuBose, and a relative to Maribeau B. Lamar (Second President of
the Republic of Texas).
The Foster Farm was a cattle and peanut operation. When Lizzie died, her children opted to sell the farm in parcels.
Calvin, Tom's father, bought his seventh of the farm from his siblings.
Today, Frisco Creek Farm is the last remaining portion of the original homestead established by Tom's grandfather.
The farm laid fallow or was leased to local cattlemen for many years.
In 1997, Ellen was collecting Morgan horses like most folks collect tin cans. The decision was made to make Frisco
Creek Farm a viable breeding operation. In January 1997, Ellen owned one mare. By December, she had three mares
and a stud colt. By summer 1998, the first foal was on the ground.
In 2006, the horse barn flooring was renovated and the focus has shifted to carriage driving and all-around competition.
Look for Frisco Creek Farm at a show or parade in South Texas soon.
