In 2001, Jarmo Perala defined a new species in the Negev East of the Nile Delta. These animals had previouly been considered
T. kleinmanni, but on investigation were found to have very specific traits not shared by T. kleinmanni. Rather than the
classic shape carapace flared at the rear, these animals had a more linear, narrower shape over all. Also, they are missing
the characteristic dark chevrons in the keratic of the plastron. Further, they are as a population slightly larger than T.
kleinmanni dwelling in the Nile Delta and to the West through Northeastern Syria. Below are photos of this animal courtesy
