The Little Church in the Wildwood
We had our parish meeting on Sunday, Sept. 27.
We elected Joey Peters as Senior Warden, Bob Griffin
as Junior Warden, Terry Sellers as Clerk and Del Peters as Treasurer. These four will make up our vestry for the coming year. Laney
Ferrell was elected as delegate to the 2010 Diocesan Convention. Shelby Ray was elected as alternate delegate. Jerry
Sellers was approved for the rector to nominate to the Bishop for licensing as a Eucharistic Minister for the coming three
years. The treasurer reported that August was a good month. We took in more than we paid out. The building fund now
has over $2300. The parish will be working with Rosalyn Killough's family to come up with an appropriate memorial to her.
The treasurer said that the 2010 parish budget will be based on past year's expenses which we can fairly accurately predict. It
was noted that the STEM percentage will drop from 62.5% to 50% on December 1st when Fr. Frank retires. This 50% will still
provide funds to pay for interim clergy support, the work of the search committee, operational costs for administrative tasks
and to build up funds to provide for the moving costs of a new rector. There will also be a new fund established,
the rectory renovation fund, to which members may make donations. These funds will be used to fix up the rectory in preparation
for a new rector to move into it. Fr. Frank spoke to the stewardship program, our faith pledge system, during his
sermon this morning. All members are asked to remember to use their stewardship calendars for the next 28 days leading up
to faith pledge Sunday on November 1st. There was a report on the process by which the parish will seek a new rector.
That will begin on Sunday, Oct. 18th when the newly elected vestries from the three parishes will meet at the cluster council.
The Rev. Pat Wingo, deputy to the Bishop, will be there to start the process leading ultimately to calling a new rector. There
was a suggestion that with many children now attending, it is time to consider to returning to having acolytes serving at
the altar.
