She used to be human, but became corrupted by her evil deeds. The glamour" magic of  Avalon (a land in AEG's 7th Sea RPG) slowly changed her appearance to match her vile nature; It turned her into a hideous creature with nightmarishly long arms, well suited to snatching passersby and dragging them down into her foul swamp lair.
