There are many facets of visual interest in Chick's work, the magnificent grain and rich color of the Black Walnut being just a couple.

The gist of the theme of this piece is a rich widow who has a new-fangled automobile, but the kicker is, she doesn't like the noise it makes. So, she converts it to a horse-drawn wagon, getting rid of the noise, but still flaunting her "new toy."
