This region of the Languedoc-Roussillon is called LE MINERVOIS
PEPIEUX lies between Narbonne and Carcassonne. This quiet, friendly village was built around the 13th century romanesque
Church of Saint Etienne. Part of the village walls can be seen alongside the Ognon river to the North.
Just outside the village 5,000 thousand year old dolmens still stand.
2000 years ago a vibrant Gallo-Roman culture flourished here and 1000 year ago the Cathars fought fiercely across this
land to defend their religious beliefs.

Today, it sits at the center of a wine making renaissance as some winemakers
of the Minervois are making names for themselves as exceptional producers of fine wines. One of the local wines, Domus Maximus"
2000, produced by the Venes family in Massamier la Mignarde, won first prize in an international competition for best red
French wine in the world 2005!
You will enjoy ancient villages set in an immensity of vineyards, the dreamy Canal du Midi, the silhouette of the Montagne
Noire in the distance, the Cathars castles perched on their rocky peaks and the nearby beaches of the Mediterranée. Most
of all, you will appreciate the welcome of the people, the delicious "specialités du pays" and, of course, our local wines.
