TRIAL UPDATE
DAY THREE OF TRIAL--Wednesday, March 11, 1998
Once again, the day ended with the prosecution helping our case. Much of the day was spent questioning Don Calhoun, who was assisting the Washitaw in depositing warrants in accounts, but ended up getting arrested in Puerto Rico. He badly injured the prosecution's case by perjuring himself on the stand. After lunch, Richard McLaren's attorney asked Mr. Calhoun if he spoke to any of the prosecution team during lunch. He answered, "No." "Are you sure you didn't speak to any of these men during lunch?" he was asked. "No, I didn't." was the reply. Afterwards, prosecutor Michael Uhl asked to approach the bench. When he did so, he had to admit to the court that he did speak to Mr. Calhoun during lunch. Then Richard McLaren's attorney questioned Mr. Calhoun as to why he lied. Mr. Calhoun's answer, "I forgot."
Another government witness, a border patrol guard, was asked by Rick's attorney what he was doing patrolling Marfa when it's sixty miles from the border. He stated that they had been ordered to meet a plane when it landed at Marfa because it had Republic of Texas people on it. So obviously the government has been harassing Republic of Texas people and attempting to block them at every turn.
The prosecution called two other witnesses, bank employees who admitted that they don't understand how to process international financial instruments.
We've yet to hear the government prove a case against any of the defendants. We're still not allowed to take pen and paper into the courtroom. Briefcases aren't allowed, but they've begun allowing women to carry their purses into the courtroom.
Between the government's witnesses and the defendants, we're scoring a lot of points for The Republic. Maybe this trial will be the method by which we'll finally be able to get The Republic of Texas message out. Please keep praying for Truth to prevail.
