When you are a Texas Department of Public Safety Officer and there is no Independent Witness.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) Spokesman, Mr. Mike Cox, was quoted in the Houston Chronicle, that the DPS:

With "no charges" against Mr. Matson, the DPS, by their own admission, conducted a man hunt with dogs and helicopters for Mr. Matson. Apparently as Mr. Maston was being attacked or chased by trained dogs under DPS control, he defended himself by shooting one or more of the dogs. For this, he was shot by the dog handler and a helicopter descended on him, firing at will, after Mr. Matson fired to protect himself as he was being chased by dogs, fired upon from the ground and from the air, BY PERSONS APPARENTLY INTENT ON KILLING HIM.

If they "just wanted to talk to him", why did they kill him? How do you talk to a dead man? Wouldn't a prudent trained police officer simply "back off" and figure a more amicable manner of talking Mr. Matson out of hiding if the intent was "just to talk to him." Even after Matson killed a dog, was it proper to take a human life in exchange for an animal's life? If they just "wanted to talk to him", why conduct a manhunt, with trained dogs, helicopters and heavy armament? What was so urgent about a conversation with a person who had no criminal charges against him, as to chase him down and kill him? What this was, dear reader, was an open admission of cold blooded murder by the DPS. The DPS has publicly admitted as much by their quoted statements:

a.) They had no criminal charges against Mr. Matson
b.) They just wanted to talk to Mr. Matson

With an open admission of no.....LEGITIMATE REASON IN LAW...!!

WE RECEIVED A NOTICE REGARDING CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEE BY FAX TODAY, THAT SHE WAS DETERMINED TO GO AFTER BASICALLY ANY CITIZEN EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH.

The first published news reports regarding the killing of Mike Matson were direct quotes from the "dog handler" of the pack of sixteen (16) hounds that were pursuing Mr. Matson. The dog handler, a DPS officer, stated that Mr. Matson was behind a rock firing at the dogs. The handler stated that he himself shot Mr. Matson in the arm, he fell to the ground, then got up shooting again. He was then shot through the chest and died.

A later quote published in the Houston Chronicle of May 9, 1997, quoted the veterinarian who treated the wounded dogs, Janet Greathouse, as stating "they said the guy was up in a tree and fired almost point blank. The dog died instantly."

ANY RACCOON HUNTER WILL TELL YOU, THAT WITH A BLOOD -THIRSTY PACK OF SIXTEEN (16) HOUNDS COMING AFTER YOU, ONLY A PERSON WHO WAS TRULY CRAZY WOULD STAY ON THE GROUND, SO THAT 16 FRENZIED HOUNDS COULD TEAR HIM APART ! NO ONE HAS ACCUSED MIKE MATSON OF BEING CRAZY. NATURALLY HE WAS IN A TREE, JUST AS THE DPS MURDERERS STATED TO THE VETERINARIAN. THAT LEAVES ONLY ONE LOGICAL CONCLUSION: IF MIKE MATSON WAS TREED AND FIRING AT DOGS THAT WERE TRYING TO REACH HIM, WHY WAS HE ASSASSINATED BY DPS OFFICERS ?

THE CHRONICLE ARTICLE OF MAY 5, 1997 QUOTES MIKE COX, SPOKESMAN FOR THE DPS, "MATSON ISN'T WANTED, BUT WE'D LIKE TO VISIT WITH HIM", SAID MIKE COX, SPOKESMAN FOR THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY"

THERE IS NO "RULE OF ENGAGEMENT" STATUTE, CODE OR CONSTITUTIONAL ARTICLE, THAT PERMITS THE TAKING OF A HUMAN LIFE IN RETALIATION FOR KILLING A DOG, WOUNDING DOGS OR SHOOTING AT DOGS. WHY WAS MR. MATSON BEING PURSUED BY A PACK OF SIXTEEN BLOOD-THIRSTY HOUNDS, IF HE WAS NOT WANTED ? WHY DIDN'T THE DOGS' SO-CALLED EXPERT HANDLER CALL THE DOGS OFF, BEFORE ALLOWING THEM TO ATTACK MR. MATSON, A MAN "NOT WANTED".

WHY DID THE DPS OFFICERS MURDER MR. MATSON, A PERSON....IN A TREE ? WHERE IN THE HELL WAS MR. MATSON GOING FROM A TREE ? HOW WAS HE GOING TO ESCAPE FROM A TREE WHEN HE WAS CONFRONTED ON THE GROUND WITH ARMED OFFICERS, FROM ABOVE BY AN ARMED HELICOPTER, AND WITH 16 DOGS JUMPING UP TO TRY AND TEAR HIM APART ?

THE ONLY CRIMINAL PENALTY FOR KILLING AN ANIMAL IS A MISDEMEANOR. THERE IS NO PENALTY FOR DEFENDING YOURSELF FROM BEING ATTACKED BY VICIOUS ANIMALS. IS THE ENTIRE GOVERNMENT SO THIRSTY FOR BLOOD AS TO COMMIT COLD BLOODED MURDER AND NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

THE GOVERNOR OF TEXAS HAS ADMITTED TO GIVING THE DPS "CARTE BLANCHE" TO HANDLE THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS. COLD-BLOODED GOVERNMENT ASSASSINATION MUST BE INVESTIGATED BY A GRAND JURY AND THOSE ACCOUNTABLE PUNISHED.

Our constitutions do not provide for law enforcement officials to use deadly force in "serving" an arrest warrant, yet your government bureaucrats have given all police a LICENSE TO KILL in serving an arrest warrant or apprehending a criminal. There is a body of argument as to the legality of killing citizens in the process of arrest, but this argument cannot be utilized by the DPS in the situation of the Republic of Texas Members.

The Republic protestors had been INDICTED for a "white collar" crime. None had been indicted for a crime of "bodily harm". No felony indictment, not even a misdeameanor indictment, for "harming another person." No felony, not even misdemeanor, for "harming an entity", such as bombing a building, etc. An INDICTMENT IS NOT A CONVICTION.

Under what legal authority can a law enforcement official use deadly force to serve an indictment for a white collar crime ? Under what legal authority can the official mobilize over 300 POLICE OFFICERS to plan a deadly attack to serve indictment papers ? Under what legal authority can a law enforcement official bring in armed personnel vehicles, armed helicopters and trained attack dogs to serve indictiment papers ?

Thre is only ONE AUTHORITY in the State of Texas that can coerce law enforcement officials to declare a war on citizens and that is the GOVERNOR OF TEXAS. Only the governor has the authority to ORDER the mobilization of an organized army to conduct A PLANNED MOBILIZATION AND GOVERNMENT SPONSORED WAR, such as took place in the government attack on the Republic of Texas.

Have any of you ever been "coon hunting" with a pack of coon hounds? Do you know what a pack of coon hounds does to a raccoon if they are fortunate enough to catch the coon on the ground ? Those with squeamish stomachs would not want to witness such an event. How did Mike Matson feel, when he saw a "frenzied pack of hounds", coming toward him. Do you know what the pack of hounds could have done to him if they caught him ? Well, picture what happens when the frenzied pack catch that coon on the ground and you will get the idea. Do you know when the last time a pack of hounds was used to chase a citizen not CONVICTED of a crime? It was during the days of slavery, when hounds were used to chase runaway slaves. Neither Mr. Matson nor Mr. Keyes had been convicted of a crime, and they damn sure were not runaway slaves. So just what authority was used to attack citizens not convicted of a crime with a pack of dogs?

Under what authority does a law enforcement official bring in armed vehicles and helicopters to attack a person not convicted of a crime, only charged with a white collar crime ? The authority to bread the law comes DIRECTLY FROM THE GOVERNOR OF TEXAS, ONLY THE GOVERNOR has the authority to ORDER these types of actions. The Texas Governor gave the DPS direct ORDERS to act as EXECUTIONERS if they so chose.

Who supported the Governor in this abdication of his office ? The Attorney General of Texas, Dan Morales has worked very closely with the Governor in carrying out his wishes. These co-conspirators now have the murder of a man not charged with any crime on their hands. Do you think they wonder if anyone will catch on, and sabotage their political careers ? Well, Gentlemen, we caught on, and the citizens of Texas will hopefully receive this statement exposing the abdication of your officers, and conspiracy to commit a criminal act, against a person charged with no crime of any type.

Maybe someday each of you will feel the experience of a pack of bloodthirsty dogs coming at you, with an armed helicopter above shooting at you and someone from the ground shooting at you. It must be a very lonely and terrifying feeling, especially if you have not been convicted of a crime, nor charged with a crime. The establishment media has worked the public into a frenzy over alleged "white collar" crimes by painting the Republic of Texas as a bunch of kooks that deserved to be killed for basically First Amendment speech privileges. The establishment and its media front needed a body to justify the expense and manpower involved in this abominable government war on citizens. Mr. Matson was the unfortunate "body" that was needed to satiate their appetites.
