Good morning and welcome, ladies and gentlemen. My name if Jeanette Kinman. I have been involved in public relations in some manner with The Republic of Texas for over a year.
This morning you will be hearing from Mrs. Evelyn McLaren, wife of Ambassador Richard McLaren. Mrs. McLaren was in the Embassy in Ft. Davis during the recent seige. She is a witness to the International Cease Fire Agreement which was signed May 3, 1997.
She will be telling you today about what transpired during the seige and the violations committed by the state and federal government since the agreement was signed. Mrs. McLaren is an incredibly courageous woman. She and her husband make a dynamic team and have made tremendous sacrifices for all of us. They have literally laid their lives and fortunes on the line for the cause of freedom. Ambassador McLaren has had to live in extremely modest conditions for a long time; he's had to abandon his love, his organic vineyard, which he would prefer to be doing, and has instead invested all of his savings and income to do this work--and this work has demanded thousands of dollars and many 20-hour days, seven days a week.
Also present this morning is our acting President, Mr. Steven Crear, and Erwin Brown. I'm sure you've heard about their recent unlawful arrest and incarceration and subsequent hearing in federal court. Each of them, too, has made tremendous sacrifices on behalf of the people of The Republic.
I wish to announce that The Republic of Texas is alive and well; in fact, it's growing by leaps and bounds. We have people who continue to work around the clock to ensure Texians' right to decide on the issue of Texas' independence. The defense forces are expanding. We continue to receive many inquiries from people inside and outside of Texas. On a recent talk show in Houston, the station polled its listeners and asked them to indicate whether they would like to see Texas be independent or a state. 92% voted for independence. The international media has been very supportive. This issue will not die; it continues to be pushed by very tenacious, determined people who are interested in freedom and life as it should be. We are committed to bringing forth the truth to all the People of Texas so they can decide the question--an opportunity we never had after the Civil War.
We're hoping that within the next week we'll be forwarding to you some very exciting announcements which will further substantiate our claims about the status of The Republic of Texas. We think it's time for you to convince your editors to publish the facts, not state propaganda, and not sensationalism.
Thank you for coming.
