* REPUBLIC OF TEXAS GAINS GROUND ...New March 27, 1998
The trial of nine Republic of Texas defendants in federal court in Dallas is turning into a remarkable forum to publicly validate the legitimacy of the Republic. Please read this summary of events from yesterday's testimony in Judge A. Joe Fish's courtroom.
* IMPEACHMENT "PLOT" ...New March 25, 1998
Emotions run high, as Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee accuse Republicans of "secretly plotting" to initiate impeachment proceedings against William Jefferson Clinton.
* YELTSIN DISMISSES RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT ...New March 23, 1998
We take for granted that no single leader can dismiss the government of the United States and assume dictatorial powers. However much presidents may overstep limits set by the U.S. Constitution (especially Clinton, with more executive orders than any previous president), we can still thank the founders of this nation for certain basic guarantees. Today's turn of events in Russia should remind us that things are generally much worse elsewhere. "I hereby declare that the government of the Russian Federation is dismissed..."
* BILL CLINTON'S SECRET POLICE STRIKE AGAIN ...New March 19, 1998
When more than 900 purloined FBI files were found in the Clinton White House, mostly confidential files on Clinton enemies, the spectre of secret police control (a la J.Edgar Hoover) loomed large for Clinton critics. Now Dick Morris, an aide of President Clinton, comes forth in this New York Post commentary and publicly accuses the White House secret police of using their enormous power to attack the credibility of Linda Tripp. Where else, argues Morris, could the current edition of the New Yorker Magazine (please see "Portrait of a Whistleblower," New Yorker Magazine, March 23, 1998, p. 34) have secured arrest records that were expunged decades ago, not to mention ten-year-old copies of Linda Tripp's original application for Pentagon employment? If Morris is correct, this represents a bold escalation of Clinton's willingness to abuse presidential power--quite reminiscent of the police state tactics he became famous for during his tenure as governor of Arkansas.
* HELL WEEKEND FOR CLINTON--THE LATEST DRUDGE ...New March 14, 1998
Recently a commentator described Clinton's fall as "like one of those old Charlie Chaplin movies, where he falls down the cliff, hitting every outcropping, every branch, every possible obstacle on the way down."This weekend will see the release of 700 pages of Paula Jones papers, Kathleen Willey appearing on "60 Minutes" in a compelling interview describing how the President assaulted her sexually just outside the Oval Office, and a blockbuster interview in Newsweek with Linda Tripp.
* UPDATED DEATH LIST ...New March 2, 1998
For a long time we have known that it does not pay to be a "Friend of Bill (F.O.B.)" Here is an updated "Death List" that includes an astounding number of people who associated with Bill Clinton and who ended up dead. The most interesting entry may be the most recent, which discusses the execution-style death of former White House Intern Mary Mahoney, who was gunned down in a Starbuck's restaurant last July.
* CLINTON AIDES ADMIT EFFORTS TO SMEAR STARR ...New March 2, 1998
Ever wonder why the effort to discredit Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr seems so well-orchestrated? Please read this top story from the March 8, 1998 edition of the Washington Times, written by reporter Paul Bedard.
* WAG THE DOG FOR REAL ...New February 22, 1998
It's hard to tell the difference these days between the surreal and the real. This past Friday, around 2 P.M. PST, Dan Rather was caught broadcasting a "live" report (complete with special theme music, graphics, and commentary) describing the February 25, 1998 attack on Iraq. This editor heard several people call in, very confused, regarding this "War of the Worlds" production. No, the bombing hasn't happened yet--or has it?
STAGED "TOWN MEETING" IN COLUMBUS, OHIO...New February 19, 1998
If you think you got to view the full extent of the chaos at yesterday's "Town Meeting" when you saw it on CNN, or even on Ted Koppel's behind-the-scenes Nightline program, think again. Yesterday, February 18, 1998, at 2 P.M. EST, the Clinton administration attempted to conduct an orchestrated "Town Meeting" at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio for the purpose of promoting an imminent attack on Iraq. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Secretary of Defense William Cohen and National Security Advisor Sandy Berger were featured on this CNN live, televised event. What most people will never know is that all questions were reviewed ahead of time by CNN's production staff--those who posed questions that displeased CNN were turned away.
Even so, the pat answers provided by Albright et al did not satisfy many in the crowd. Although news reports attempted to put a spin on the protest issue (quoting Albright, "a dozen or so of you are preventing us from speaking, and the rest of the audience would like to hear what we have to say"), the fact is that at least fifty people summoned the courage to object to the momentum of the proceedings, and many more chanted old standbys of the anti-war genre:
What was not apparent, because the worst skirmishes occurred during commercial breaks, is that several people were dragged out by the Secret Service, and one man, Rick Price, waited his turn to speak only to have the microphone yanked out of his hand by an angry CNN producer. After being removed to the lobby, Mr. Price, by then fully aware of the orchestrated nature of the meeting, objected so strenuously that he was finally let back in. He made a strong point of informing the audience as to the undemocratic nature of the supposed "town meeting." Further, he made the substantive point that bombing would not hurt Saddam Hussein, nor would it eliminate his capacity for manufacturing weapons of mass destruction. The only people who would be hurt, Mr. Price insisted, would be the Iraqi people.
Much of the audience was obviously sympathetic to the protestors. Journalist Marshall Barnes, who attended the event, reports that approximately one-third of the audience supported the protestors, one-third was ambivalent, and one-third was hostile to the disruption. Even those hostile to the protestors, however, agreed that the Clinton administation's proposed "containment policy," with no ground troops and limited air strikes, was bound to be ineffective. "What is the point of this?" many asked.
Mr. Barnes reports that on several occasions it looked as though CNN might lose control over the ninety-minute meeting. At one point, host Bernie Shaw, appealed to the audience to try to understand the time exigencies of the television format. One man responded, quite appropriately, that going to war is a serious matter, far more important than the trivial commercial concerns of television.
Attacks on the three Clinton officials continued to the end of the meeting. Although Albright attempted to put the best possible spin on things ("a serious discussion"..."proof that we enjoy a vibrant democracy"), it was clear that the meeting had not gone as planned. Apparently selling war to Americans in the nineties will not be as easy as Clinton might have hoped.
* BLUSTER AND BOMBS DON'T WIN WARS ...New February 18, 1998
Please consider reading today's excellent article, Bluster and Bombs Don't Win Wars, by Colonel David Hackworth. Among Colonel Hackworth's points:
* LAST MINUTE HOPE FOR PEACE ...New February 17, 1998
Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, is on a peace mission to Baghdad , and he hopes to make a deal with Saddam Hussein. Nothing is assured, however. Read all about it in Christopher Lockwood's article, appearing today in The Daily Telegraph.
* CHINA'S SPY RING ...New February 16, 1998
In today's New York Times, that "bastion of the right-wing conspiracy," William Safire exposes the infiltration of the White House by operatives of the People's Republic of China. For some time now it has been apparent that the Chinese government worked to influence our last election and buy favors in Washington. The Senate's Thompson committee, which was assigned to investigate the matter, has now come forward with a report calling such activity by its proper name--espionage. Perhaps now that even the mainstream media is waking up to the fact that the People's Republic of China penetrated the White House, they will also begin to call those who co-operated with Chinese operatives (quite likely including Clinton and Gore) what they are--traitors.
* LATEST DRUDGE ...New February 15, 1998
These lastest excerpts from Matt Drudge include some real scoops: Monica tried to warn Bill by pager prior to his testimony before the Grand Jury; the Pentagon puts the squeeze on Linda Tripp, contrary to official policy on whistleblowers; six women step forward with sworn statements regarding their relationships with Clinton; more evidence surfaces regarding Monica's position of privilege; Hillary hints at regulation of the Internet; Hard Copy's story about Clinton's illegitimate son deemed too hot to air; some recent Drudge history and facts.
* IRAQ-IRAN ALLIANCE MOVES FORWARD ...New February 13, 1998
This comprehensive article , published in yesterday's The Times and authored by Defense Correspondent Michael Evans, discusses the emerging alliance between Iraq and Iran. This alliance becomes increasingly important as we move towards conflict with Iraq, especially in the context of the Clinton administration's recent change in policy allowing first use of tactical nuclear weapons. Please refer to entries for February 11 and February12, below.
* FOREIGN ENTANGLEMENTS AND WORLD WAR III ...New February 12, 1998
News continues to surface regarding an emerging alliance between Iraq and Iran. And we know that last year China established an alliance with Iran and Pakistan. Meanwhile Vladimir Yakovlev, Commander of Russia's Strategic Missile Troops, addressed the Russian Parliament on February 7, 1998 promising a retaliatory defense of Iraq if the U.S. uses tactical nuclear weapons in the coming conflict. (Please see February 11, 1998 entry below regarding Clinton's Presidential Policy Directive 60.) If you do not relish the thought of our American Republic facing off against an Eastern alliance composed of Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, China and Russia, you must read Joseph Farah's analysis of this very dangerous situation.
* CLINTON DIRECTIVE ALLOWS NUCLEAR RETALIATION ...New February 11, 1998
While the public has been mesmerized by the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, has the Clinton administration been gearing up for World War III, complete with a nuclear exchange in the Middle East? For some answers, please read this article by Patrick J. Sloyan, printed in Newsday on February 1, 1998.
This is a major event, the most significant change in nuclear policy in more than a decade, and the change has been effected with no public debate. Quietly ushered in last November, Clinton's Presidential Policy Directive 60 is only now coming to light, and it allows the first use of tactical nuclear weapons ("mini-nukes") against rogue states. The most likely "mini-nuke" would be from the B61 series with a one-kiloton yield, or approximately 400 times as powerful as the largest conventional warhead in the U.S. arsenal. These B61 series tactical nuclear weapons are much smaller than the 1945 Hiroshima bomb, which yielded thirteen kilotons, and far less powerful than the multi-megaton bombs in our full-size nuclear arsenal. Nevertheless, the political repercussions from the first use of tactical nuclear weapons would be enormous.
Just as in 1991, when the "Big Boys" wanted their war and all diplomatic solutions were ignored, clearly current preparations for war with Iraq are part of a larger strategy. Our Constitution guarantees the American People full control, through their congressional representatives, over declarations of war. Contemporary presidents have behaved as war-making kings--clearly in contempt of the wishes of the founders. If we do not object, and if the Clinton administration deploys tactical nuclear weapons in the Middle East, it will do so in the name of the American People. Do we really want to be responsible for firing the first shot in what may become a nuclear conflagration?
* KENNETH STARR ANSWERS HIS CRITICS ...New February 7, 1998
Today one of President Clinton's attorneys, David Kendall, sent a letter to Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr accusing him of carelessness in guarding the secrecy of grand jury hearings. Here is Starr's response to Kendall, where he makes it clear that the leaks do not necessarily originate with jury members or with his staff, but instead could well originate with attorneys representing Clinton and other parties.
* NEW YORK TIMES REPORT ON BETTY CURRIE ...New February 6, 1998
A major development--President Clinton's private secretary, Betty Currie, has been working with Kenneth Starr for weeks now, and Clinton may have coached her as to what she should say about Monica Lewinsky. An excellent summary of her involvement during the events of the past few weeks.
* JOSEPH FARAH EDITORIAL ...New January 31, 1998
Joseph Farah, editor of the Internet newspaper WorldNetDaily, thinks Clinton will skate on this one. Why? Because the president and key Republicans have the goods on each other--mutually assured destruction. And perhaps because Republican leaders think they can maintain control of the legislative agenda under a weakened president.
* LINDA TRIPP STATEMENT ...New January 30, 1998
This is an extraordinary statement by the former White House aide who has been at the center of the Clinton/Lewinsky controversy. Ignore the talking heads and read Ms. Tripp straight.
* LEGAL ANALYSIS OF THE LEWINSKY CASE ...New January 29, 1998
Larry Klayman of Judicial Watch offers a fine legal analysis of the case in this January 26, 1998 Washington Weekly interview. Some insights into the political constraints that affect both sides in this controversy.

* REVERSE SPEECH--DAVID JOHN OATES ...New January 22, 1998
At least entertaining--maybe more. David John Oates is an Australian researcher who has done groundbreaking work in reverse speech. His hypothesis states that overt thinking is expressed in forward speech, while covert thinking can be directly discerned by listening to a reversal of that speech. In other words--an infallible lie detector. Here are the speech reversals from Clinton's press conference today as he answers charges of sexual misconduct with Monica Lewinsky and witness tampering in the Paula Jones case.
* DRUDGE REPORT, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21, 1998 ...New January 21, 1998

* U.S. GOVERNMENT CRACKDOWN ON DISSIDENTS...Update December 13, 1997
Whether we are talking about the arrest of James Sanders, who authored The Downing of TWA Flight 800 ; or the gag order imposed on Lt. Col. Steve Cogswell, Deputy Medical Examiner at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, who had the temerity to reveal that the late Commerce Secretary Ron Brown displayed a bullet wound to the head, making Brown the target of an assassin rather than the victim of an airplane accident; or multiple "cease and desist" orders issued to Web site operator Jim Robinson; or legal maneuvers by White House minions against Internet news wire operator Matt Drudge--a clear pattern of harrassment is emerging. The First Amendment is clearly under attack by those who have sworn to uphold it.
* FBI DIRECTOR FREEH HUMILIATED BY WHITE HOUSE ...New December 9, 1997
FBI Director Freeh stepped out of line recently by opposing Janet Reno's refusal to appoint an independent counsel to investigate Clinton/Gore fund raising. In addition Freeh is insisting that Clinton's ties to China be investigated, and he may attempt an end-run around Reno on the China issue. With respect to the new evidence emerging on the death of Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, Freeh could use the Presidential Assassination Statute to circumvent Reno.Will the White House try to get Freeh to resign?
* EXPERTS DIFFER ON RON BROWN'S HEAD WOUND ...New December 9, 1997
An excellent article on the new evidence emerging that Commerce Secretary suffered a .45 caliber gunshot wound to the head. Discusses the historical perspective and explains why Ron Brown may have been targeted for assassination by the Clinton administration.
* SECRETARY BROWN SHOULD HAVE HAD AUTOPSY ...New December 9, 1997
Even Associated Press has not been able to leave the Ron Brown story alone.
* COLLEAGUE CONFIRMS COGSWELL ALLEGATIONS, PUBLIC OUTCRY RELIEVES HARRASSMENT ...New December 10, 1997
U.S. Army Lt. Colonel David Hause today confirmed Lt. Col. Steve Cogswell's allegations that Commerce Secretary Ron Brown appeared to have suffered a .45 caliber gunshot wound to the head. Lt. Colonel Hause was present at the crash site, and he personally saw the head wound. Thanks to public outcry, Lt. Col. Steve Cogswell is no longer under virtual house arrest , and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology lifted the gag order they imposed late last week, provided he does not contact the media from his place of work. Keep the pressure up, folks--they'll take as much as we let them get away with!
* GAG ORDER EXTENDED AS ARMED FORCES INSTITUTE OF PATHOLOGY PANICS ...New December 12, 1997
