WELCOME...
to a most wonderful place...
-the northern coast of California,
-home to amazing giant Redwoods,
pristine emerald rivers, majestic
rocky coast vistas, mossy forests,
wide beaches and mild climate.
Rich in history, from the pioneering
days of the California Gold Rush,
the wreck of the Pacific steamboat
known as the Brother Jonathan,
the building of a lighthouse 6 miles
out on St. George's Reef, -and one
on the coast at Battery Point
(built 150 years ago in 1856)
thru the mining,
lumber-milling, and fishing eras
Crescent City has
seen a lot of
changes through the years,
including the wide devastation
wrought by the
tsunami of 1964,
but retains its "off the beaten path"
charm, and small-town spirit.
