"Desalination"

FWT Desalting System that transforms saline water into usable water for irrigation. The salts are altered into a form of potash that acts as fertilizer. In stead of being harmful to crops, the FWT Desalting System treated water actually is conducive to vegetation growth.

All water is used in its entirety and nothing is wasted. Consequently, there is no possibility of harming the eco system. This process is done at a fraction of the cost of conventional reverse osmosis or distillation methods of desalination.

We are looking for joint venture partners in projects that we will provide technology, machine and know-how while joint venture partners will provide marketing and labors in your region.

Olive orchard irrigated with FWT treated saline water (Spain)

Olive Orchard Irrigated with Saline Water

In spring 2009, FWT conducted two irrigation projects in Southern Spain through our representative FWT in Europe. The olive orchards are about 47 hectors. The orchards have no other water source except through a well that contain 34,320 ppm of salinity, almost as salty as average ocean water. The FWT system used in the projects includes building a tank (1,000 metric tons) about the size of the daily irrigation need for the orchards. Water pumped from the well first goes into the tank and after a treatment process inside the tank, is used to irrigate the olive orchard daily. (Note: Cl of the influent is 34,320 ppm and effluent is 6,683 ppm) Please see the photos below for the irrigated trees without and with treatment of saline well water. Olives on the trees irrigated with treated well water are visibly bigger and more abundant than the trees without treatment. Salt granules can be detected covering the grounds, but do not cause salt burn to the olive trees. FWT treatment neutralizes the salt and protects plant root system from adverse reaction to minerals, heavy metal and harmful chemicals. Instead, the system turns those harmful elements into nutrients for plants. This system can be applied to areas lacking fresh water: places either having to use recycled water from sewage plants or with access only to saline water (including ocean water) to grow plants or vegetation. Another application is fishery. The system can be used to raise fresh water fish as well as ocean fish, making water source more flexible. Treated water can protect fish from diseases, pesticide and pests, therefore reduces the use of antibiotics. Since the treatment process is done at a fraction of the cost of conventional reverse osmosis or distillation methods, it is best suited for agriculture, golf courses, fisheries and various of industries to relieve worldwide water shortage problem.
