Pastime Lake Dairy is a dairy farm with 2,000+ cows
in Riverside, California. Over the past 5 years, one of the manure pits (about 216'X400'X20')
has accumulated approx. 64,000 cubic yards of most solid manure (picture dated 4-5-07 -- starting
the job).
On April 5, 2007, our company started a bio-dredging job on the pits. Using waste water
(the disposed water after washing the cows) accumulated from the next pit, we have achieved
significant results within 3 months. From mostly solid waste, the pit is now turned into
mostly liquid. Water depth was measured to be over 12 feet
(pictures dated 6-11-07). The pit now looks like a lake with reflection of the mountains
in the background (west-view picture dated 7-2-07).
Our company treated the pit with only bio-degradable products, so the process won’t
cause any secondary pollution. In addition to reducing the solid waste in the pits,
offensive odors from manure and waste water are significantly reduced.
In the near future, the dairy farm owner will be able to use the system we established as
an open liquid manure treating facility on-site, continue to dump all their liquid manure and waste water
without having to dig for more pits to store said waste.
In conclusion, the system we used on the farm can be applied to treat any solid sludge
(industrial, petroleum, etc.) on-site without building new expensive sewage plants. The
method is effective, fast, economical (at least 30% savings over any other workable solutions
on the market) and safe (no secondary pollution). This revolutionary method will replace
the prevailing method of using chemicals, expensive equipments and facilities to treat waste
and sludge.
