This young male Red-shafted flicker sat on our deck railing Oct. 7, 2005.
He appears to have a touch of hybridization with Yellow-shafted flicker of the east, indicated by the faint traces of a red
crescent on back of neck.


The Bullock's Oriole is surely one of Oregon's most colorful songbirds.
