Friends of the Eastern Caribbean Photo Submission and Selection Guidelines |

|
We
are seeking all types of photos for the calendar.
In interest of keeping true to where Peace Corps Eastern Caribbean
is, we will only accept photos from the current 6 EC islands (Antigua and
Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada – including Carriacou and Petite Martinique,
St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines) and
photos from RPCVs who served in Anguilla, Barbados, and Montserrat.
There is no limit to the subjects that you may take your photos of.
However, we want to present the region and its countries in a
positive light. Ideas
for photos: town and village scenes; people - from infants to elders;
folks in action, resting, working, enjoying everyday life or celebrating
special occasions; landscapes, architectural or other detail – crafts,
food, etc. Things
to keep in mind when sending along your photo choices: angles, lighting,
subject matter, etc., will keep a viewers attention for “month-long”
appeal. Submission
Criteria 1.
Photos must be sent in high resolution digital format (jpeg, gif,
tif). NO OTHER formats will
be accepted. 2.
Photos must be from the EC region where Peace Corps Volunteers have
served (past or present). 3.
No picture showing a Peace Corps Volunteer will be eligible. 4.
A photographer may submit a maximum of 3 pictures per year. 5.
A photo submitted three times, but not selected, is no longer
eligible. 6.
Each photo should be easily identified by using the submission form
to chart the photo number to its caption. 7.
A submission form must accompany all submissions (please email foec.calendar@gmail.com
or download from our website). 8.
Basic requirements for technical quality include focus, realistic
color and good overall contrast. Photos should not be over- or
under-exposed. 9.
Submissions must be emailed by 1st of November 2008. Photos sent later
will be held for the next year. Selection
Process 1.
All submissions are assigned a reference number upon receipt.
During the selection process pictures are only referred to by number.
All voting takes place over the internet, given locations and
availability of FOTEC members. Active
or due paying members are eligible to participate in voting process.
2.
Round
1 –
the FOTEC views the eligible photographs. Each person votes “YES” or
“NO” for each picture - with no limit placed on the number of YES
votes. 3.
Round
2 –
to be eligible for this round, photos need to have received a 51% (or
more) “YES” rating from Round 1. The members will vote again,
selecting 13 photos from different individuals to create the calendar. 4.
From these, the committee selects photos (1 cover and 12 month) and
notifies the winners.
