Projects funded in years prior to 2002 focused mainly on grants to teachers.
During 2003 no funding requests were received for special projects.
During 2002 a project, proposed by Rahiel Housey RPCV St Vincent, was funded. Rahiel provided supplies and FOEC paid the shipping.

Vinsave benefits from Peace Corps generosity
THE VINSAVE Pre-school has benefited from the generosity of
a former Peace Corps worker who was attached to that institution from 1998-2000.
Rahiel Housey on July 31 handed over a barrel of school
supplies to Executive Director of Vinsave Janice Fraser.
Housey, who hails from Detroit, Michigan is an English Resource teacher.
The supplies included books, crayons, pencils, paints, construction paper and ordinary paper.
Fraser thanked Housey and explained that Vinsave is very appreciative of the donation because obtaining those supplies locally is very expensive.
Housey told SEARCHLIGHT that the donation was made as part of her continued commitment to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Vinsave.
“A lot of Vincentians do not realize that Peace Corps members continue to feel the Eastern Caribbean in their hearts after their stint here is over.” Housey added ‘When I finished that was not the end of my commitment to St. Vincent and Vinsave.”
She said that friends, co-workers and family provided the gifts. She also spoke about a group called “Friends of the Eastern Caribbean” in which members are dedicated to the countries in which they served.
“Some of them are 60, 70 and 80 years old,” revealed Housey. Friends of the Eastern Caribbean handled the shipping cost for the barrel of supplies.
On hand to witness the handing over were Sherryl Phills, Administrative Assistant at the United States Peace Corps office in St. Vincent and Administrative Secretary of Vinsave, Jollity Fraser.
Peace Corps has been around internationally since 1961 and was established in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 1967.
