Mini Grants:
A Mini Grant is a one-time grant to a currently active Peace Corps Volunteer serving in the Eastern Caribbean or a RPCV from the Eastern Caribbean. The grant provides funding for small projects whose goal is to better the ability of Host Country Nations to help themselves and better their quality of life. A Mini Grant cannot be extended and it does not provide continuous funding. It is a single disbursement. Under extraordinary circumstances, however, a volunteer can win a Mini Grant on consecutive years. This year the FOTEC will be targeting one Mini Grant per host country of $300 USD each.
How EC Mini Grants Work:
The granting process is competitive. On or before the 1st of January, April, July and October, FOTEC will accept applications for grants. All solicitations require a completed application form detailing the PCV, the project, and the project site. All solicitations will be reviewed and screened for suitability by the Mini Grant Coordinator, others familiar with the host country and the Board of Directors of the FOTEC. The Board, based on the submission and recommendations of project reviewers, will select winning applications. Once a winning application is identified runners up and new applications for that host country and year will be held over for the following calendar year. A project need not have matching funds, nor will we discriminate for, or against, projects that will be only partially funded by Friends of the Eastern Caribbean.
If You Win an EC Mini Grant:
You enter into a contract with the FOTEC in regards to the execution of the project. Failure to comply with the terms of the contract may require you to refund the grant to the FOTEC. Your contract with the FOTEC for execution of the project includes a clause on accountability. The FOTEC must remain informed about your project and how it is progressing. The wining grant applicants will be notified on of before the 15th of February, June, September and February 15th.
1. On a separate piece of paper, answer the questions provided on the application form complete as fully and accurately as possible. Sign and date the contract above “Volunteer Name Date” to indicate you agree with the terms of this grant.
2. Submit it to Nancy Murdock PO BOX 3283, Santa Barbara, CA 93130 or email it to Nancy, so that we receive it on or the 1st of January, April, July or October.
3. If you submit electronically, you must also return your signed agreement and contract by mail, as we must have your signature (no faxes please).
4. The deadline by which the FOTEC must receive all your application and signed contract is the 1st of January, April, July and October.
5. Board selection will be made on or before the 15th of February, May, June, and September.
6. The winner will be notified by email and/or post immediately thereafter. The money will be disbursed through the Peace Corps Eastern Caribbean office.
Good Luck!
