Our book explores various treatment alternatives for FM and CFS. Each chapter focuses on a different therapy. In most chapters, the reader hears first from a treatment provider, and then reads an interview with the person who has dealt with that subject themselves. We have included information on acupuncture, massage therapy and Chinese remedies, narcotics (including the controversial use of medical marijuana for pain and muscle spasm), movement and physical therapies, as well as an overview of the more traditional treatments for these conditions. Advice on legal matters, and obtaining Social Security and private disability benefits is also included. The latest research and fundraising is discussed. Twenty-eight care providers, teachers, and attorneys have contributed to this book, as well as 28 patients.
Through these interviews with patients and providers, we hope that the reader will obtain a thorough knowledge of FM and CFS and the range of techniques that can be used to treat them. We have also included an extensive Bibliography to give readers a way to research the topic for themselves. We hope this book makes as much of a difference in your life as it has in ours. In return, we ask only that you keep an open mind and are willing to join us in our adventures in healing.
