Join the staffs of The Deep South Fly Shop and The Appalachain Angler for a three day Smallmouth Bass / Trout fishing adventure. We will meet in the town of Boone, North Carolina on Friday. From there we will travel to the Nolichucky River where we will spend the next two days (and one night) floating in wilderness smallmouth bass & muskie paradise. Monday, we will change tactics for a day of trout fishing on Tennessee’s world famous South Holston river. We will meet in the small town of Jupiter , on Florida’s southeastern coast, where in July the Gulfstream reaches it’s closest proximity to the United States. From small boats, just offshore, we should have many opportunities to throw flies at species such as Tarpon, Bonito, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, Snook, Barracuda, African Pompano, and Cobia. This is an excellent opportunity for first time saltwater anglers to sharpen their skills without having to be an expert caster ( i.e. : Florida Keys ). These fish , because of their size demand a stout 9 or 10 weight outfit, and that each angler memorize a few knots. We will travel by horses to our base camp at timberline, and for six days, explore pristine wilderness lakes and streams in search of cutthroat, golden, brook, & rainbow trout. We will meet on Friday, August 28^th, in the small town of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and for the next three days attend the fly fishing school of America’s most famous flyfisherman, Mr. Dave Whitlock. The first two days of the school will cover everything from Fly Casting and Fly Tying, to fish foods and how to imitate them properly. We will spend Monday watching, and learning what Dave does best--- Smallmouth Bass fishing with a fly rod. Our classroom will be the world famous mountain Smallmouth stream, Crooked Creek.
