ACTION OPTICS, "LOW LIGHT", SUNGLASSES : Action Optics, a division of Smith Eyewear has developed a low light lens ( their 1st hour light brown lens ), and several photochromic lenses ( in both brown, and copper tints ), which are perfect for the fishing conditions here in the Southern Appalachain region. About 90% of the fishing we do both here in Alabama, and in the mountains of Tennessee, Georgia, and the Carolina’s occurs in and around very dense vegetation, where a dark or medium brown lens simply will not work! BOOK REVIEW: ON THE SPINE OF TIME, by Harry Middleton. Long out of print, Pruett Publishing in Boulder, Colorado, has just reissued this Southern fly fishing classic. The late Harry Middleton, a long time Birmingham resident, takes the reader on a tour of the Smoky Mountain region, introducing the area streams and its sometime eccentric residents. The entire work is written in the classic warped Middleton style, insuring that you’ll never look at fishing, and potato salad, in the same way again—JEC.
