Belvedere Cemetery
The Belvedere Cemetery is the home of many victims of the yellow fever epidemic in 1878. Victims were of all ages. People were dying at such a pace that they couldn’t bury the dead fast enough. Days were silent and solemn. The nights were worse frightened of the epidemic and the creatures of the night that seemed always present. Vampires, zombies and werewolves owned the night and feasted on the dead, the near dead as well as the living. A ghoulish aura filled the air along with the fog that concealed the terror.
The epidemic ended when the weather cooled off in October, but Memphis would never be the same. The town was nearly wiped out and ultimately only 19,000 people remained alive to carry on. This cemetery stands in memorial of those who died and many that are “undead”. This Halloween night, as a storm approaches, the creatures of the night celebrate. A feast of fresh human flesh and blood for all hallows eve.
