  Margolis, Gwen  35   Democrat   Consists of parts of Broward, and Miami-Dade counties

Weapons & Firearms; increases minimum terms of imprisonment imposed for
  possessing, discharging, or seriously harming another with semiautomatic
  firearm & its high-capacity detachable box magazine or with a machine
  gun; authorizes court to impose additional fine against person whose
  felony conviction is reclassified under certain specified circumstances
  because of person's possession of such firearm or machine gun, etc.
  Amends 775.087, 790.07.  EFFECTIVE DATE: 07/01/2005.

  possession, purchase, sale, or transfer of assault weapon or
  large-capacity detachable magazine; provides certain specified
  exceptions; provides that knowing violation of act is felony of second
  degree; requires seizure & forfeiture of said weapons & magazines held
  in violation of act or used in committing crime; requires that seized
  weapons or magazines be destroyed within certain period, etc. Creates
  790.222.  EFFECTIVE DATE: 01/01/2006.
