What I do?
I'm a Segment Manager for R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company's Premedia Center in Elgin Illinois. The real name of the facility is the Digital Media Center. It's part of the Telecom Business Unit.
My past responsibilities at Feist were:
Graphics coordinator for the Feist companies
This included software testing, new technologies evangelist, work flow design and "production fireman." My tools are numerous. CorelDraw!, QuarkXpress, PhotoShop, ThumbsPlus!, CompuServe, Windows NT, Cold Fusion, and assorted net tools.
While this is not part of my "official" duties, it does benefit the organization by keeping me at the fore front of technology. Originally, I got my start in desktop publishing using Ventura 1.1. Even though the current version has lagged behind in popularity, (and reliability, but what_the_heck) it is still the best software for setting type (documents, not display). Probably the biggest benefit from testing is the contacts I have with some of the finest people in our business. Geoff, Steve, Jose, Ed, etc. The list goes on and on. BTW, if you'd like to see how these pages should be done, go to John Asher's page. Hopefully, given enough time, I'll be able to transcribe some of what I've learned in to web material.
Got some feedback? I could certainly use it.
