Ed's Koi Pond
Built June 2002
My 7 year old grandson and I built this pond at the end of the swimming pool. It is 16' x 6' x 3'. Took us about a month working a few hours each evening. We used pressure treated 4x4's and 2x4's to build a frame around it so it extended 12" above ground and 3' below ground. By having it above ground some keeps the dirt and leaves out of the pond. To keep the water clear and free of algae I use two (2) teaspoons of Bentonite about once a week mixed in a bucket of water and put in the pond water. The left hand side are two (2) apple snails mating. They are about the size of my fist.
The pink things on the plant is eggs from Apple Snails
