Managing multiple
email identities or accounts is easy to do with Outlook or Outlook Express. If you have multiple people using one computer,
it is important to keep all your individual user email accounts separate. This helps to keep all of your data clean and uncluttered amongst the
many users on your PC.
There
are 2 ways to do this:
- Multiple
Windows Profiles (PREFERRED METHOD).
- Multiple
Outlook/Outlook Express Identities.
Multiple
Windows Profiles:
With
Windows XP, 2000 or NT (You can also set up multiple Windows Profiles with Windows 9x and ME but they are not
as secure and can be somewhat unstable) you can simply use multiple Windows profiles (i.e. Windows
logon accounts) for different users, then when a user logs into Windows under their login name, Outlook or Outlook Express
can initiate, set up and install separate identities within the email program for that particular user. With XP's
fast user switching feature, multiple people can be logged into a PC at once. They then can switch between their
XP accounts to work on an open program, check their email or check the progress of their downloads.
