So far I have been lucky to have kept my irises free from borers and other pests and diseases - except for racoons, who trampled them last year.
This variety of iris has been very reliable. The showy flowers bloom in Spring on 3-1/2 foot stalks and smell like Pez candy!
Plant the rhizomes right at ground level. Cut the blooming stems off as flowers wither. They make excellent cut flowers that last a week in a vase of water! They make great companions to peonies, which bloom at the same time.
