Child Endangerment
While not a Lawyer, the California Penal Code 273A reads as follows ---
Abandonment & Neglect, Title 9,
note 7, Willful --- "Child endangerment statute proscribing causing or permitting child to suffer physical pain or mental suffering or permitting child to be injured or placed in endangering situation does not require specific intent to inflict harm".
note 9, Pain or Suffering --- "Actual bodily injury to child is not required to support conviction for child endangerment under statue proscribing causing or permitting child to suffer physical pain or mental suffering or permitting injury or endangering of child".
note 11, Endangering life or limb --- "It is the likelihood of foreseeable injury, rather than whether such injury in fact occurs, that is relevant in determining whether defendant is guilty of felony child endangerment".
