At the Workshop, classes take place in a fully-equipped
three-camera video studio. Students work on scenes from motion pictures, taking them through a cycle of cold reading, rehearsing,
digital recording, playback, and analysis of the work.
This studio environment is as close as possible to the one in which you will be be working as
a professional actor. The scripts are similar to the material you will be using. The approach to acting you'll study has been
developed specifically for the camera, not adapted from stage technique. As far as we know, no other workshop offers this
combination of advantages.
Actor Lorenzo Lamas, "Renegade":
"Tony Barr's Film Actors Workshop was a crash course in learning everything you need to know in case somebody hires you
for the part."
Producer Charles Johnson, "JAG":
As a producer, I always look for actors who have been well-trained: Film Actors Workshop does an excellent job of preparng
students for the professional workplace. I should know, because I'm an alumnus."
Former SNL Regular Jon Lovitz:
"Tony Barr owes me money, but considering everything he taught me about comedy and acting, I probably should forget about
it."
All our work is based on Tony Barr's book, ACTING FOR THE CAMERA, which is available
at Borders, Amazon.com, Samuel French, and Barnes & Noble. Many industry professionals consider it the definitive work
on acting in film and television.
Oscar Winner Eva-Marie Saint:
"... one of the most helpful most understanding books for actors."
Emmy Winner Sharon Gless:
"...the best
book of its kind I know...a must for any actor who is interested in a career in film."
Oscar Nominee
David Paymer:
TonyBarr's teachings and his book, ACTING FOR THE CAMERA, were my guides as I
made my transition from stage to film acting. I couldn't have done it without him."
Emmy Winner Ed
Asner:
"Tony Barr has made it eloquently simple with ACTING FOR THE CAMERA. It is fast
reading, easily understood, and beautifully laid out. Now I know what I do."
Oscar Winner
Karl Malden:
"When I finished, I had learned a thing or two. I've been acting for thirty years,
and don't think I'm not going to try the things I've learned from reading your book the next time out."
