This is from summer 2000, near Duluth.
I grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I went to Carleton College, where I majored in physics.
Some links to Carleton friends: Rachel Pildis
Then I went to the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS). I graduated with a PhD in physical oceanography in December 1994.
Next, I went to the Naval Research Lab at Stennis Space Center
(NRL-SSC ) for 2 years
as a postdoc in a program run by CORE

Projects that I was involved with include:
My favorite part of oceanography is going out to sea; here is a good place to look for ship info.
I worked for three and a half years as a system analyst at Retek Inc in Minneapolis, MN, a company that creates software for large retail chains.
I then worked for about a year at Digital Cyclone, out in Minnetonka. The company does personalized weather forecasts--check it out here!
And then, in a weird twist of fate, I went back to Retek, which got eaten by Oracle, so I can now legitinately claim to be have been an Oracle DBA.
Finally, I have returned to Digital Cyclone, now owned by Garmin.
More stuff to come--I haven't even mentioned the fun parts of life yet (that would include, among other things, Joseph, music (including the Roseville Community Band), and dancing.).
Younger family members: Amethyst is here and Eleanor is here.
Here are my bookmarks (mostly meant for my use while elsewhere, but feel free to browse).
You will notice that this page has a plain, pale background. This is because of the incredible number of totally illegible pages I have seen, with some crazy pattern hiding all the text, or dark blue text on a black background. Nothing on this page will flash, change color, or wiggle, so you can relax.
