Rankel, Richard
Cpl. Richard A.Rankel 1994-1998
Crash Crew MCAS-YUMA 1996-1998
I am currently in the Texas Air National Guard 147FighterWing located at Ellington Field Houston, Tx. I am still in Crash Crew, but for the Air Force Reserves. The Corps gave me a skill that I will always treasure and that would be fire fighting. If you were in Yuma anytime I was there please e-mail. I served in Crash Crew at the bottmless pit of the Arizona Desert MCAS Yuma, Az 1996-1998. After leaving the Corps, I joined the Texas Air National Guard in 1999. I am attached to the 147th Fighterwing/ Ellington Fire Dept. (Crash Crew). I enjoyed crash crew so much that I did not want to get out of the field all together. I also volunteer for the Spring Fire Dept. in my own hometown. I plan on staying with Ellington Fire Dept. for the long haul of 20-30 years, for my military retirement. Yuma was not that bad of an experince in my life. The Corps gave me a skill that I love to do everyday and night-- Fight Fire.

After I got out I took some computer programming courses and became a fitness instructor. Then I worked in consumer affairs for a couple of Corporations here in Richmond.I also have a wonderful little girl. I now work at a law firm here in Richmond, VA and I am learning to process bankruptcy cases. I really miss everyone from the Corps. It truley does seem like yesterday that we were sitting at hot spot hoping for an emergency to kill the bordom and praying that it turned out with everyone safe. Here is a list of people I knew.I can be reached at the law firm of Zwerdling, Oppleman and Uvanni in Richmond, VA 804-355-5719.

It was great to see the Crash Crew Home Page and that so many crewmen are still around and doing so well--who would have thought sitting on hot spot. Well done!!. After getting off active duty in scenic 29 Palms, I traded in my bunker gear for a suit and work for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. (what was I thinking). Missing the camaraderie of the Corps--especially the crew, I joined the Reserves and have been with the 12th CIT for the last ten years. Please include me on the roll call and I look forward to catching up with old friends.
