Fmr. Sgt. Chris Lassiter Outstanding!! Reading some of the comments brought back memories of my "Baked Potato" days.
Spent 4yrs at the "Stumps" and my last at Futenma.
Saw a few names I remember. I was the crane operator for our crew in 29 Palms, that lined my up for my present job with a major construction company here in NC. Been with the company for about 3.5 years and it keeps getting better!! There is life after the Corps!!!!

I'm John Lawson, John Lawson a retired CWO-4. I started out as a 7041 after graduating from PI in April '73, was promoted to WO in 1980, and became a 7002. My duty stations were:
Quantico CFR - OIC, 1981-85 Cherry Point transient services - OIC, 85-86
Cherry Point CFR 1986-88 - OIC, CFR and Recovery (5 major mishaps with 3 fatalities, 7 or 8 wheels-up accidents, and lotsa emergencies and traps)
Futenma CFR 1988-89 - OIC, CFR and Recovery MWESS-271, Bogue Field 1989-1990 - OIC, Recovery (and the messhall, and ops, and more!)
Aboard USS Iwo Jima for Desert Shield/Desert Storm - 8 months (the ONLY MWSS to tactically deploy for an amphibious landing - !) - OIC, CFR and Recovery
2d MAW Headquarters (G-4) - Wing EAF/CFR Officer until retirement in May 1994
I left Albany, GA in September and became the Assistant Airport Director for the Beaufort County, SC airports (Hilton Head Island airport, and Beaufort County/Lady's Island Airport). Yep, I'm right across the water from Parris Island and just down the road from MCAS Beaufort (Fightertown)!. Within a couple of months, I will be moving up into the Airport Director's position. I'd love to hear from any and all of the Marines I've had the good fortune to serve with.
