Cultural and Historical Notes

In my search for more information about Moro Swords, I have been bitten by the need to learn more about the history and culture of the people that created these beautiful but deadly weapons. As a student of Cultural studies, it is my belief that a cultural artifact cannot be properly understood when taken out of its cultural/historical context. In other words, one cannot truly understand a weapon without learning about the people who made and used them. That is why I feel that it is greatly important for those seeking to learn more about these weapons to not take them out of context, but to explore the cultures that made them. The physical characteristics can be surmised through, careful examination of pieces, however to understand what these weapons truly are detailed analysis of the history and culture of the people that made them is necessary. While I would like to produce more in depth articles dealing with the Moro history, and culture I am like most only a student in life and am trying to further my own research as well. While I hope that I will be able to provide relevant and accurate information, I am afraid that I will not be creating more articles until I can feel comfortable in their accuracy. That being said, I may at times remove articles or revise them as pertinent information is gained. This being said, the most important aspects to this site, in my opinion, are not the descriptions of the various weapons, but the links to other references about Moro society. So please, check out some of the books in the bibliography, and check out the links. I will try and update this section as soon as I can with substantive articles/notes.
