At Judson she majored in Literature, but music was her gift after graduation she taught Music at Judson and was an accomplished pianist, teacher and composer. She married Rev. Zech Ford Bond, Th.D. on December 26, 1911, in Louisville Ky. In all his pastorates she was his faithful assistant, leading in every department of church life.
The following is extracted from notes found in her papers: A Baptist minister when visiting in our home, in La., introduced me to Judson College. As he left he placed his  hand on my shoulder and said: "The cream of the South attends Judson; you must go there some day you are going to marry a preacher, mark what I tell you."
Well, I went to Judson - and I married a preacher!! I never met the preacher until after my graduation. Two years later we were married, Zech Ford Bond was my brothers room mate in William Jewell College. We first lived in St. Louis where Mr Bond was taking his Master's Degree at Washington University and also pastor of a church there. Later he attended the Seminary. Still later his work took us to some interesting cities as; St Louis, Chicago, Cincinnati, Augusta, Ga, and Louisville, Ky. We retired and moved from Louisville to North Augusta, S.C..Living there for fifteen years he was still very active and was interim pastor of twenty eight churches in Augusta and North Augusta. We had two lovely children a son and a daughter. The latter died at age two. The son worked for the government in DC had an accidental death in 1971. My husband had died two years prior to that and I was living with our son. I claim no honors then. In spite of our sorrow, we had a happy life - serving the Lord together, for 57 years.

2. James Lucius Durham,10 son of James Allen Durham and Eliza Crawford Davis, was born on 21 May 1848 in Cuthbert, Randolph, Georgia, USA,11 died on 10 Aug 1920 in Winnfield, LA12 at age 72, and was buried on 10 Mar 1922.

General Notes: James Lucius Durham was born on a farm near Cuthbert, Georgia, May 21, 1848. He was the sixth child in a family of thirteen children, born to James and Eliza Crawford Davis Durham. This large family moved from Georgia to Louisiana, in covered wagons drawn by oxen. Departing from Cuthbert January 1, 1859, they arrived six weeks later in a community three miles south of Winnfield. Texas had been their destination on leaving Georgia, but when they reached Winn Parish, they found some former neighbors from Georgia, who had just proceeded them, and they prevailed upon the Durhams to settle in Winn; or at least make a crop, try out the soil and climate, and then if not satisfied they could after harvest move to Texas. Considering the lateness of the season, coupled wit he urgency of their former friends and neighbors, they all decided it was best to stop. They soon located some government land, most of which was in the woods, and began clearing it.
Their former neighbors rendered many kinds of assistance, aiding them in clearing the land of timber. With every one of grandfather Durhams children working, who were large enough to pick up brush, several acres of land were soon cleared and burned off, ready for the plough. Much dead timber mixed with the green made this feat possible.
The Durhams were anxious to plant, as soon as possible, some grain, as was their custom in Georgia, Knowing too, that their supply of produce brought with them would soon be exhausted. The neighbors informed them that wild game - deer, rabbits, squirrels, turkey - abounded; and nearly every day some wild game was brought in by the sons who loved to hunt. The forty acres of fresh land, and about the same amount rented from neighbors, enabled the Durham family to harvest two/thirds of a normal crop. When the crop had been well worked out some of the Durham boys were permitted to seek employment among their neighbors, hoping to earn some ready cash, a much needed item at this time. However they were instructed to take farm produce, where money was not easily obtained, in exchange for their work. James Lucius, now eleven years old, was just the proper size to serve as chore or messinger boy. He grew rapidly and when thirteen was doing a man's work on the farm. Soon the Civil War broke out, and his two older Brothers, Thomas and John, volunteered their services for the cause of the Confederacy, and were soon marching towards the battle front. Their father did not believe in slavery, never owned a slave, but did believe in States' Rights, and volunteered his services. Having lost vision in one eye he was never assigned any actual duty, but became a member of the Home Guards.  At the age of eighteen he was ordained a deacon, but not without some controversery since he was unmarried at the time. He was the first unmarried man to have that high honor conferred on him by that church, or as far as anyone there knew at any Baptist church. He served in that capacity the rest of his life save the last two years when he was bedridden. Their father always ruled his large fam ily in ancient patriarchal fashion. He exacted of his children implicit obedience and usually got it without having to resort often to the use of the rod. Seldom did he have to tell one of his children more than once to perform a task. His first wife, mother of James Lucius, passed away in 1864 leaving 13 children. Two years later he married Mrs. Elizabeth Hillburn Brock, widow with two children, ages three and six. To this
last union were born two sons and three daughters. He died at the age of 85.

James Lucas Durham

James Lucas Durham is a son of James Durham who was one of the early respected settlers in Winn Parish. He was twice married and became the father of eighteen children. The posterity are numerous throughout several parishes.

J. L. Durham was born in Georgia in 1848, but his father brought him to Winn Parish when a child and he was reared and educated here. They lived in Sardis Community.

January 22, 1867, he married Miss Telltha McIlwain. They have ten children, two of whom are dead. These are pursuing various lines of life in this section. Mr. Durham has always been a farmer, but is now dealing in real estate as well as operating his farms. He has accumulated nicely and now owns above 2,000 acres of land and an elegant home in Winnfield. He is a Baptist deacon and is a Knight of Pythias and has always been unselfish and generous in his community and section. Many widows and the poor cherish the name of Jim Durham, as he has always been called. He is the father of the pastor of the Baptist Church and also the tax assessor in Winn parish.

Probably no man in this section is more enthusiastic about our future than Mr. Durham, who is willing to invest to the limit in her property. He is vigorous, industrious, andpersistent now as he approaches sixty. He has dealt liberally with his children and is auseful man in any community.

Motto: "Aim high and reach the mark by all possible effort, and to make my life useful to mankind."

8. Kozel John W Durham,58 son of Kozelmelv Joab Durham and Kozel Jeannie Prescott, was born in 1796 in Franklin Co, GA,2 died on 6 Jul 1864 in Camden, Ark at age 68, and was buried in Bathsaida, Church Cemetery, AR.2

General Notes: Texas had originally been the destination of the James Durham family when they arrived in Winn Parish from Randolph County, Georgia in 1859, having travelled for 6 weeks in convered wagons drawn by oxen. The settled in a community 3 miles south of Winnfield where they found some former Georgia neighbors. in North Carolina during the Revolutionary War. He had a brother-in-law named Mack Arrington, who was a leader of a band of Tories. The Patriots got news that the Tories were going to destroy or damage a watermill nearby, Joab and his rangers secured themselves inside the mill, and when the Tories reached there one of the
patriots said to Joab, the leader, "Joab, Mack Arrington is leading the Tories and I'm going to kill him.' Joab said 'Go ahead and kill him.' and then he turned his head so as not to witness the killing. The bullet plowed through the lower chin of Arrington and broke his neck. All the rest of that band of Tories was either killed or taken prisioner." "Joab and his men later joined Marion and his band in several battles one of which was the Battle of Kings Mountain, Oct 7, 1780. Also the Battle of Gillford's Courthouse in North Carolina in March of 1781. He also had part in the Battle of Hobkirk's Hill North Carolina and the one at Fort Ninety-six."

32. Thomas Durham,86 son of John Durham and Margaret Lindsey, was born about 1696 in Durham County, England and died in 1749 in Lunenburg Co, VA about age 53.

General Notes: Tradition is that Thomas came to America in 1721 with a ship load of young emigrants, many being young married people. James Allen Durham told his grandson George William Durham that Thomas got on that boat with a large number of other young men and women, thinking that it was a sight-seeing trip until they were too far from shore to swim back and were told that they were on their way to America. On the
ship he met, courted and later married a Scotch lass named Margaret Lindsey, nicknamed "Peggy". Family tradition says that she lost her bonnet overboard and that Thomas told her he would marry her and buy
her a new bonnet. The story continues that his brother, Matthew Durham, either on the ship or a little earlier, had married Suzanna Lindsey. father of This Thomas. Thomas and Peggy Lindsey Durham had nine sons, perhaps some daughters, and all of the sons fought in the Revolutionary War. No Tory was known among them. Two died at Valley Forge in 1776 from the hardships of winter. The Oldest son was named Thomas who became a Primative Baptist
