Never Caught a Rabbit-

This song was named after a phrase in Big Mama Thornton's "Hound Dog". In 1969, when
I was in Mendelbaum, we got a gig at the Fillmore opening for Big Mama. It was a great
gig and best of all, it got us out of playing on top of the Hells Angels' bus at Altamont, a
not-so-great gig, as I recall. I played this song at a gig at The Monterey Bay Aquarium
once and a fan came up and said that he felt that this was "the new music". Either he was
right or very drunk. In either case, I gave him a copy of "Guitars and Oranges" just for
telling me that. Haven't heard from him since.
