A support group for people who have come
through negative Christian experiences, who
are still seeking God, and trying to make sense of it all

As of February 2009 we are taking a break and advertising to get some momentum for the group. Please send an e-mail with your preferences of which day to meet. We will meet on a weekday evening every other week.  We also welcome input for improvement regarding the group or the website.

(will eventually be meeting) 7pm-8:30pm

Crestline Professional Building

Hwy 138 and Waters Drive, Valley of Enchantment, California

A group for people who may not feel like they fit within traditional Christian settings. A safe, supportive environment without traditional Christian “trappings,” in which people can seek and find spiritual healing and wholeness in their relationships with God, themselves, and others.

Faith Survivors Anonymous is not affiliated with any particular church or denomination.  It is for people who believe or suspect on some level that Jesus Christ is at the core of the search for truth and meaning in life.

This Is Your Group If:·

  • You have been hurt or disappointed by spiritual leaders, fellow church members, and/or Christian family members
  • You are recovering from legalism or from motivation based on fear and guilt
  • You are questioning inconsistencies within the Christian faith, the Church or the Bible
  • You have unanswered questions or confusion brought about by personal suffering, seeing the suffering of others, or seemingly unanswered prayer
  • You have been told to turn off your brain or your feelings in the name of the Christian faith
  • You are uncomfortable with the “herd” mentality or an “us vs. them” mentality you experienced in a Christian setting

Faith Survivors Anonymous is a group where you can be who you are, and share honestly about your spiritual journey, without fear of judgment.  In this group, you can share your doubts, concerns, fears, questions, confusion, or even “heresies,” without shame or fear.

How the Group Works:

We are similar to 12-step groups.  Faith Survivors Anonymous has our own “8-steps.” The group is based on the principles of confidentiality and anonymity. There is no formal leader; there is an informal, rotating group facilitator. Participants take turns sharing about what is on their hearts and minds. Sharing is voluntary. There is no cross-talk, advice-giving, or interruptions when people are sharing. Even before and after the meeting, advice should only be given when it is asked for directly.

The idea behind this type of group sharing is that when we are able to share ourselves openly in an environment of acceptance, love, and support, we are freed up to grow and move on in our spiritual journey.  We also gain insight from listening to others share.

We clap after each person shares. This does not mean we agree with or approve of everything they say; rather, we applaud members’ courage to share honestly where they are at, and to show that we love and accept them exactly where they are in their spiritual journey.

We are a group “in process.” We appreciate input for improvement.
