My paintings and drawings were inspired by my daughters who are musicians. As I listened
to them practice for concerts I would often visualize the artwork, including the movement, color, and overall feeling.
I also studied Asian Art History and was inspired by the calligraphic line. I felt the
use of the calligraphic line in my work would help me not only attain the feeling of movement, but the ethereal, flitting,
rhythmic and sensual feelings that the music created.
Of course, the desire to paint movement led me to the possibility of dancers, but the viewer
can never be certain. Therefore, the artwork becomes open to interpretation based on the viewer's experiences and moods.
