My paintings are often women in different stages of life. While painting only the essential form, combined with the feeling
of movement, this helps to convey the energy of the subject. They often seem like their existence extends beyond the canvas.
For example, Dancing For Joy depicts a youth's exuberance. Painted on unprimed canvas, it exemplifies the untainted,
virginal, naive, and free. But the way the paint and ink 'bleeds' on the unprimed canvas, leaves an unclear, fuzzy, 'developing'
image.
Women in Person is a gathering of pregnant women, showing the way a pregnant women is so focused on this time of her
life. Actually, the figure on the far right, can be seen turning away (a slimmer, non-pregnant form) thus not fitting in
with the group.
Muses, Fates, and Furies was inspired by the Bach Gigue from French Suite No. 5. In three voice fugal writing, each
one at one time holds the attention, each inspiring the entrance of the next. Growing together, creating a cohesive whole.
A dance in triple time.
Reaching Out was inspired by Debussy's Faux d'artifice. The music prompted a swirling, sensual display, sequenced and
sometimes a bit frantic.
