My wife asked me if I would be willing to do couples coaching to improve our relationship and marriage. I agreed feeling I would go into it very cautious and if it made her happy it couldn’t hurt anything. Daved by far is one of the best teachers out there today. He does not pick favorites or judge your dancing ability by how many years of work you have put in. He respects each individual talent. His love for these students, his job and the love to dance shines throughout him every time he has ever entered the studio. Daveds unique choreography does not just show tricks, but portrays a message, usually very deep and is truly fun at the same time. I would know about the deep part, I have been moved to tears before. As well as just dancing, he constantly reminds us that dancing is about the passion, and not just winning competitions and he usually expects us to have a positive intention to bring to class to better us. I am always excited to go to his classes or to learn new choreography. He has opened our eyes to the outside dancing world and is proud of his students no matter what happens. My daughter has been dancing since the age of three. She has had several teachers that she has enjoyed but none that have inspired her quite like Daved has. He has taught her to feel the dance and not just perform it. I am always moved by his positive attitude and his positive energy. He has a way of making everyone around him so excited about what is going on in the dance studio. She can't wait to go to class, practices the choreography at home but most of all has gained insight into herself as a dancer and a person. Hi, my name is Robyn Donoho. I began taking class with Daved Beck in 1995. I was fifteen and he was nineteen. I immediately loved his hip-hop class. It was the same gruesome warm-up every time, but the choreography was always changing. I loved the movement, because it was full of joy, but not the whimsical kind. It was aggressive, passionate, and raw. This was the best outlet for my teenage angst. I could express myself in Daved’s class in a way that I couldn’t anywhere else. I also loved the fact that he constantly pushed us. He has eyes in the back of his head, and sees everything. In addition, Daved does not pick favorites. He shows a deep interest and compassion for all of his students, and pushes them equally to be their best. Daved is not just an outstanding teacher- he is also a first-class performer. When he dances he gives his heart and soul. He becomes the movement. I feel that out of every teacher I’ve had, Daved is one of the main influences in my life. He taught me the joy of expressing myself through movement. Now that I teach dance and yoga for a living, I am finally happy. I had the privilege of working with Daved a couple of summers ago at the Fearless Living Institute's yearly retreat. He was hosting a morning dance class. I do love dancing, yet I am more of a free-form dancing and quite nervous about steps and coordination. His patience, encouragement and warmth helped me come up out of myself to do the steps and add my own "umph" to it! The thing that I loved about working with Daved was how much fun he made it.
