East Coast Swingis a variation of the Jitterbug, Jive, and Lindy. Originating in Harlem, this is a lively dance where dancers have the most freedom of movement and expression. It is the easiest to learn and the favorite of many dance students. One lesson gets you eagerly out on the floor.

one of the original "touch dances" where partners glide gracefully across
the floor to both slow romantic music as well as more lively rhythms.
It is easy to learn and has many variations.
Waltz is the oldest form of ballroom dancing originating in Austria. Although danced to a different rhythm, many steps are similar to the Fox Trot. It is an elegant dance that moves progressively around the floor.
Lindy also known as Jitterbug. This style started at the Harlem ballrooms in the 20's and is the mother of what we know as East Coast Swing. It's based on a tripple rythm and is great fun and more vigorous than Swing.
Rhumba is a Latin dance originating in Afro Cuban music. It is recognized by its distinct Cuban Motion -- an expressive hip movement that brings a special sensuality to this dance. It is similar to Salsa but slower.
Cha-Cha is still a popular Latin dance today. With a distinct rhythm pattern, it is one of the easiest dances to learn.
Tango, the "dance with a stop", is having a renaissance in the passionate Argentinean style. It originated in Buenos Aires with the poor and working class. The steps are more dramatic, have a staccato rhythm, and require the dancers to remain very close.
Salsa, similar to Mambo, is rooted in Afro Cuban music and dance forms of Puerto Rico. It became a New York sensation in the 60's and continues to flourish in dance clubs around the world.
Merenge is the "Salsa style" from the Dominican Republic and very popular at the Latin Dance Clubs.
Cumbia has
