On the Egyptian Tour:We'll visit Cairo's great mosques, old palaces and Ottoman homes, the Pyramids & Sphinx, Sakkara & Tomb of the Bulls, King Tut, mummies, the Egyptian Museum, top nightclubs, tent shows, whirling dervish spiritual presentations. We'll watch Saidi stick dancing with wailing mizmars ... and see what Beledi really means. We'll visit the great Khan el Khalili Bazaar in Cairo with trips to Mahmoud's, three-floor, marble-laden costume parts & accessory shop. We'll go to the seamstress, and dancer's homes for bargain costumes! We can visit music shops and even find a music teacher for the musically inclined! We will travel to Aswan by 1st class French train. There we'll visit Philae Temple, the new Aswan Museum, sunset at the terrace of the Old Cataract Hotel, the island of flowers, a Nubian village, sail over the waters of the ancient river Nile in a felucca, and of course, spend some time in the Nubian bazaar. We then travel on to Luxor! There we will be greeted by several of Eva's old friends. We will visit their village and possibly be in time for their annual festival. We will visit the Valley of the Kings (King Tut) and the Nobles tombs (famous frescos of dancers). On the other side of the Nile, of course, we will visit the great temples of Karnak and Luxor. We will include as many dance and folklore performances as are available as well as a dance class with Khairiya Maazin (she was still teaching in 2001, and we hope she will be still available). We then travel back to Cairo by train once more. In Egypt, you'll be welcomed like old friends. Your tour leader, Eva, has been there many times and has "laid the groundwork" for you. Come and shop, pay local prices, get close, feel the presence of the Pharaohs! All this and air fare from New York are included in your Compare prices with other tours.
