Margaret Catherine: March 26, 1923 married _____ Melville Holtz
I (Bryson) think Margaret is more like mother than any of the other kids.
The one story I (Bryson) can come up with is …. Right after they were married she came busting in, balling her eyes out. She wouldn’t say anything except that Mel was a S.O.B. He came in soon after wanting to know if we’d seen Margaret. Of course we didn’t tell him that she was hiding in the bedroom. From the way she was carrying on we figured he was at the very least an axe murderer. When he was gone mother finally got the story out of her. The pigs had gotten out and he wasn’t treating them with the dignity that she thought they should have. So she hurled a piece of stove wood at him, it hit him in the head and knocked him out.

No, I think that’s mom holding her

1929-1923, 6 years old

Margaret’s on the left end of the third row down. That kid (second in on the right of the second row) tickles me. Looks like he spent all morning convincing his bib overall wearing buddies that he wasn’t no blame sissy, I’ll bet his poor mom almost crapped when she saw the picture after she spent all that time getting him looking decent for the school picture.

13 years old? Probably an 8th grader, think I kidding, K-8th was in the same room

Margaret & her best friend Thelma posing. Margaret loved that bike. She bought it with her hard earned strawberry picking money. Than she turned around and gave it to her snott nosed little brother. It was good having a big sister like that

Margaret & Eunice, they were great buddies

Than she grew up and become a mother

Margaret & Melville, here she is mothering.... looks like strawberry plants

Mel Sr. in the strawberry patch. Those pipes are part of the irrigation system. he invented. Well maybe he didn't
invent irrigating but he was the first one to use it around southern Michigan. Water was drawn out of a well
and sprayed through those pipes. Although he only had 40 acres he made them pay off more than farms with
several hundred acres. Of course he worked a lot harder than those farmers.

Looks like the Holtz's are having a picnic

Jr. is the only one smiling, the other two look like they're watching TV

Mel Sr. looks like he’s in the middle of something, probably spraying poison. Those crates in the background look like cauliflower crates
