Auto-Stereo Grams

Auto-stereo grams are 3-d images made from taking a normal image and moving a copy of the image over to the left or right. The two images together produce a 3-d effect when viewed the correct way. Below are some viewing tips to help you along.

Method 1: Look at the image on the screen for a moment, then focus your eyes as if to look at a far off object, while looking in the direction of the image. The image should blur slightly and you may see some shape take a form, but don't focus on the 3-d image you see or you may lose it. It should become clear with some practice. This is the method I use.

Method 2: Put your face very close to the screen and slowly pull away at about one half inch per second until you are at your normal sitting distance. At a certain point away from the image, you may start to see something taking shape, but don't focus on it or you may lose it. My mother can't do Method 1, but this has worked for her.

It takes some practice, but I think its neat and worth learning how to see them. Those of you that are good at it, will notice the background image is also an auto-stereogram.

Images may take time to load, be patient.
