Metamorphoses: St. Louis

The Necropolis of the City

As time passes, people come to St. Louis, and people leave St. Louis. No one passes without leaving some trace behind, and here's where we remember all the Kindred, Ghouls and everyone else who's come to the city, made their mark and moved on -- or failed to make their mark and paid the price. We remember them all, and give our respects to their memories.

Out of character, of course, this page is meant to remind us of the characters that have come and gone for one reason or another -- the player couldn't make the game sessions after awhile, their character got killed or sent to another city, the player took a character out of play in order to play someone else, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Whatever the reason why, these characters aren't here any more, but still -- they should be remembered....

Ani Carin Bybee: This Toreador came to the St. Louis area very early in 2005, and quickly made a name for herself as a very outspoken Anarch who attempted to treat everyone as an equal, regardless of their true stature. It was rumored that Ani might have been a former member of the Camarilla once, but no one from the Camarilla was willing to verify that rumor. Ani spoke her mind, was forthright and generally open in conversations -- except on the matters of her past before coming to East St. Louis. Still, just as quickly and mysteriously as she came to town, Ani drifted out again, much to the puzzlement of several people in town who were interested in her for a variety of reasons. Ani Carin Bybee was played by Marian Aanerud.

Charlie "Richter" MacNemera: This Caitiff, who was never officially part of either the Camarilla or the Anarchs, came to St. Louis in early 2005 and announced his intention to stay in town for awhile. Before then, Richter had been traveling around, staying out of either sect, and essentially running away from other Kindred instead of joining up with them. Still, his behaviors seemed to have changed in St. Louis; he was even tutored in the Traditions of the Camarilla by Sanford Hicks of the Gangrel and Acknowledged by the Camarilla here. However, it appears that Richter reverted to type, and has left St. Louis -- and it is unknown where he has gone, or if he will return. Richter was played by Ryan Merten.

Fox: Not much was known about this Caitiff who only recently arrived in the St. Louis are -- and departed just as quickly. It was known that she was the Childe of Joseph Kerr and had spent time wandering around America since the fall of the Anarch Free State before coming to St. Louis, but little else was known about her. She left East St. Louis around the same time as her Sire, Joseph Kerr, and it is unknown if she will be returning to the city in the near future. Fox was played by Christine Cleland.

Goodman Paris: This Nosferatu came to St. Louis in 1897, a year after a large cyclone struck St. Louis and devastated portions of it. He was involved in the rebuilding efforts and slowly integrated himself into the fabric of the city. For the most part, he remained in the background of the city, and was considered part of the Nosferatu "rank and file," but it was known that he had connections to a store in St. Louis that specialized in occult goods and items, especially rare or "hard to find" things. Goodman also never quite got along with the Tremere in St. Louis, although no one was certain why he disliked that Clan so. Goodman has not been seen in some time, and many people believe he left St. Louis shortly after the beginning of 2005. Goodman Paris was played by Jakob Wilkinson.

Hans Jensen: This Germanic Ventrue antitribu, one of the "Lost Souls" Pack, essentially served as the ductus for this pack of two vampires, and took great pride in ensuring that functions held at the Elysium where he and his packmate are trapped go smoothly. Hans was prone to proselytizing and explaining why the Anarchs and Camarilla sects were "horribly wrong," but did his best to ensure that his sermonizing never crossed the line into insult. Hans also was known be a skilled chess player, and frequently engaged some of the members of the city in matches at Elysium. Hans Jensen was an NPC played occasionally by Eric Sasmor.

Harleen Qwinn: Back in her mortal days, Ms. Qwinn was relatively promising ballerina until a fateful day in 1998 when her left foot was crushed by collapsing scenery during a performance of the classic Swan Lake. While recuperating from her injuries, Harleen got interested in psychology and ended up leaving town to go to New York University to study. Upon her graduation, she returned to town and began working with a variety of charities, performing therapeutic work in order to help out the less fortunate (although she still also say the occasional upper-class patient to pay the bills). Sometime during this period, but only very recently, Harleen was Embraced, although she did not discuss the identity of her Sire with anyone. She was on friendly terms with the Anarchs and was frequently seen with them, although she was not officially a member of that Sect -- or of the Camarilla. She has been seen less and less of recently, and there is a suspicion that she has left town for awhile -- although no one has really been able to contact Ms. Qwinn to see what's going on with her. Harleen Qwinn was played by Breck Busha.

Joseph Kerr (also known as "Jack" and "The Clown"): Joseph Kerr was a dedicated member of the Anarch movement for almost thirty years; and came to St. Louis shortly after the now-legendary fall of the Anarch Free State in California, even becoming one of the three Anarchs who brokered an arrangement with Prince Robertson back in 1996 to allow the Anarchs to remain in the area. This Caitiff once had a reputation for being usually open-minded and willing to listen to those who wished to speak with him, and even successfully mediated problems between his fellow Anarchs in the past. It recently became known that since coming the St. Louis, he occasionally adopted the guise of a costumed vigilante, dressing as a clown, and stalked the streets of East St. Louis, fighting crime. Unfortunately, after getting into a scuffle with police while in his Clown guise and being taken captive by the Camarilla (who did not realize that the Clown was Joseph), he fell into torpor. Upon coming out of torpor, Joseph stated that his name was Jack, and that he was "in charge" of the situation. Jack frequently attempted to rally the Anarchs against the Camarilla, and even once or twice indicated that he was willing to begin war between the Sects. However, just as rapidly as Joseph Kerr turned into Jack, Jack decided to leave the St. Louis area, striking out for new territory. It is uncertain if Kerr will return to St. Louis. Joseph Kerr, in all his personalities, was played by Ben Dickenson.

Judith: While little was known of her past, this Brujah was one of the three Anarchs who brokered an arrangement with Prince Robertson back in 1996 to allow the Anarchs to remain in the area. Judith was also considered to be one of the more philosophically-minded Anarchs in the area. She never openly discussed her past activities before coming to St. Louis, but it was believed that she was involved with the fighting during the fall of the Anarch Free State in California. Unfortunately, shortly after the start of 2005, Judith's appearances in the area became less and less frequent, and she has not been seen for some time, leaving only John Trent and Joseph Kerr to be the open voices of the Anarchs in the area. Judith was played by Anne Thelen.

Kurt Libel: This Gangrel came to St. Louis from upstate New York in early 2001, settled down quietly in the St. Louis area and made his home in a Lowe's where he also worked. He remained in the Camarilla when Xavier removed the Gangrel Clan from the Sect, and had mainly kept a low profile since he had arrived in St. Louis. He had only rarely attended gatherings in the past, and, unfortunately, at a gathering in February 2005 he got into a minor altercation the Keeper of Elysium, James Gawain Bedavere. The Keeper banished Kurt from Elysium, and as two of his fellow Gangrel -- Hicks and Tyra Pelham -- were escorting Kurt out of Elysium, he got into a minor scuffle with them. It is known that Hicks staked Kurt; it is widely believed that Tyra currently has possession of him and will "eventually" return Kurt to public circulation. It is just unknown how long it will take for Tyra to decide if Kurt Libel is "ready" to be brought back into public. Kurt Libel was played by Bobby Brandi.

Mary Might: This Malkavian antitribu was involved, at a distance, with Andy Warhol's "Factory" scene in New York City back in the 1960s, although Mary was more of a friend of the people associated with the folks actually involved in the Factory than an actual member of Warhol's studio itself. Of course, she then got involved with the Sabbat, eventually ended up in St. Louis, serving as the priest for the two-Cainite pack known as the "Lost Souls." Her particular "Malkavian-granted" insanity proved to be slightly infectious at times, much to the dismay of one or two members of the Camarilla; she was also a skilled sculptress and created a few minor works while being trapped in the Harrisburg Showcase Elysium. Mary Might was an NPC played occasionally by Leilani Dawson.

Norton Fields: This Nosferatu came to St. Louis in late 2004, coming here from Atlanta. Back in Atlanta, Norton had spent many years as a Ghoul in service to the Toreador Keeper of Elysium, and even worked as security at one of the city's Elysium for eight decades. He was Embraced against his will when a Nosferatu called in a Boon the Toreador owed him; after that, Norton left Atlanta and wandered, eventually coming to St. Louis. He only stayed in St. Louis for a brief period of time before the urge to move on struck him. Norton Fields was played by Erik Miccombs.

Sam Carlson: Back when he was mortal in Chicago, Sam Carlson was planning on getting involved in politics, but ultimately came to the attention of a Ventrue -- James Carlson, who also happened to be Sam's grandfather. Sam was embraced in 1997 and served the Ventrue Clan as best he could from that date one. Unfortunately, he eventually became embroiled in a scandal involving a powerful Nosferatu in Chicago, and came to St. Louis to "lay low" while things calmed down. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in St. Louis, Sam became involved in a minor scandal with the Nosferatu here -- although, outside of Sam Carlson's own admission that he did appalling things, no one was entirely certain if what he did was all that disreputable. In any case, shortly after publicly stating that he had acted reprehensibly, Sam further announced that he would be leaving St. Louis and returning to Chicago. Sam Carlson was played by George Corser.

Sandford "Sandy" Mann: Sandford, also known as "Sandy," came to the St. Louis around towards the end of the summer of 2000. This Caitiff was generally seen as a fair and even-handed sort of person, who rarely quickly took sides in a situation, preferring instead to talk things out before determining a course of action -- whom which it was hard to deter him later. Little was known of Sandford before he came to St. Louis, but there were rumors that he was once involved with the police forces in Providence, Rhode Island, and may have even been involved with the Camarilla there -- although no member of the Camarilla ever verified this. He has not been seen in some time, and many Anarchs believe he has left town for unknown reasons. Sandford Mann was played by Brian Anderson.

Sandra Rooflawn: This Tremere came to St. Louis in 1990, sent here direct from Vienna. She served the Clan for some time, acting as a "troubleshooter" when needed, but appeared to have a mostly quiet life in St. Louis, working with the Tremere here. Sandra never really discussed much of her past at any great length with others in the city, and even grew more reclusive as time passed, declining to attend to any public gatherings of the Kindred in the city. She was recently recalled to Vienna by the Tremere Clan, and it is uncertain if she will return. Sandra Rooflawn was played by Stacy Jablonski.

Timm Carlson: The brother of Sam Carlson, Timm was also Embraced by James Carlson, although a few years before Sam was. Not much was known about him, aside of the fact that he was very close to his brother and was apparently involved in the scandal with the Nosferatu of Chicago. When Sam Carlson announced his intensions to leave St. Louis and return to Chicago, Timm Carlson stated that he would return to Chicago with his brother. Timm Carlson was played by Alex Cobble.
