....Frequently Asked Questions....

Here are a few questions that people have asked us. If you don't see your questions (and their answers) here, feel free to contact us and ask them. Okay?

1) Why are you guys using Mind's Eye Theatre rules? I know a (modified table-top, dice system, card-pull system, odd/even finger system) that works much better....

Yes, it's true. There are tons of alternative systems out there for LARPing. But, we're sticking with the Mind's Eye Theatre system as presented in Laws of the Night - Revised for a variety of reasons. There are too many reasons to go in depth about why we prefer the Mind's Eye Theatre system, but there is one simple reason that I will address here:

The Mind's Eye Theatre system is commercially available. You don't have to download it, have it explained to you by the staff in a three-hour presentation before the game.... You go out, you spend a little cash, you buy a book, and you read it. That's it. Then, all you have to do is know where we're changing things (and there are few changes; we are trying to stick to the book as much as possible), and that's it! Kinda simple, no? Nothing to complicated to read and understand....

2) Can I play a (Werewolf, Mage, Changeling, etc.)?

Uh.... No. Kindred only. The only exception to this "Kindred only" rule are ghouls. You can play a ghoul, but only if you have a master, and they are a player in the game! No "freelance" or unaligned ghouls. If you want to be a ghoul, you need a master, and they must be present at the game. If your master doesn't show up to the game, then you cannot play the ghoul character - just so you know.

3) Can I play a (Giovanni, Assamite, undercover Sabbat spy, Infernalist, etc.)?

Once again, the answer is no. New York City has been successfully held by the Camarilla for 75 years, and the Prince has been driving out the non-Camarilla Kindred. That means that there are almost no Giovanni or Assamites or non-Camarilla Kindred left in the city. Given that the game is taking place at the 75th Anniversary of the Taking of New York City, why would non-Camarilla come to a strictly Camarilla party? Think about it. (And check out the History of the Game for more details about the city's past.)

Oh, and as for Infernalists or undercover Sabbat? No. Nope. Not a single one. (See, personally, I hate Infernalists. Click here for more of my thoughts on Infernalists. And undercover Sabbat spies are a cliché that I want to avoid like the plague!)

4) Could I play a (Giovanni, Assamite, undercover Sabbat spy, Infernalist, etc.) who is in the Bronx with the Anarchs?

No. Yes, theoretically, you could play such a character. However, you wouldn't be part of the Camarilla, and you wouldn't be at the game. So, playing such a character would be like a broken pencil - pointless. Why bother making a character that won't show up to the gathering?

5) So what can I play?

You can play a member of the seven major Camarilla clans (Brujah, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere or Ventrue) or an Acknowledged Caitiff. That's what we're looking for, and that's what we're accepting. Check out our Character Creation Rules for how to make those character, okay?

Well, that's about all I can think of for right now. If you still have an urgent question that you don't think is answered by the above, feel free to contact us. See you at MonCon!
