That's me beside a B61 Thermonuclear gravity bomb on PB-10 at Edwards AFB, California. Units such as this were regularly dropped by the various aircraft types certified to carry them, and we Range Rats "scored" the drops, and also recovered the weapons and delivered them to the bomb dump on South Base.
White object on the ground is a kevlar ribbon-parachute, which is capable of slowing the weapon from 1000 mph to about 35 mph in just over two seconds.
