The Legend of Incredible Pete
In days of men bold, who rode flexible poles
to uncertain heights they persist - Lived
an ascending star, despising bars
that marked his daily stretch.
One day at a meet, he streaked down the way
and planted his pole in the vault. It
whipped and groaned, made a mighty throw,
and the onlookers retched at the thought.
In his in amazing rise, he winked out of sight and
was seen ever no more.
On a quiet night, that
glint in the sky followed by a joyous Ya Hoo,
is only his way,
a greeting made, as Pete orbits the moon.
