- Notes:
- The identity of John Davis' wife HANNAH _____ has been unclear. I believe it is now likely that she was Hannah BARRETT, dau of John and Margaret Barrett of Chelmsford and Littleton MA. She was born before 1715 and died 22 Feb 1753, both in Littleton MA. Her place of burial unknown. She married before 1735 John Davis of Concord, whose lineage was Samuel3, Samuel2, & Dolar1.
-
SOURCES: Hannah's birth and parents are given in Littleton Records p414; I also see numerous web references to a birth date of 10 Oct 1714 but its source is unknown to me.
-
Her death in Littleton is given in VRs of Acton p262; and see 1753 Middlesex Probate #6022 through 6025 for administration of husband's estate and guardianship of children.
-
I know of no marriage VR, so the marriage date is based on birthdate of first child in Concord [VR p139]; though I also see numerous web references to a marriage date of 22 Jul 1734, its source is unknown. The maternal name "Hannah" is frequently given on children's birth records, but without indicating her parentage. Other than the appropriateness of dates, the only evidence that she is a Barrett is that the husband of Hannah's sister Sarah assumed the guardianship of Hannah's seven youngest children after the untimely death of John and Hannah [1753 Middlesex Co. probate docket #6024, appointment of John Bridges, husband of Sarah (Barrett) Bridges as Guardian]. A Davis relative assumed the guardianship of their older children.Another confirmation can be found in the names of Hannah's children, for they reflect Barrett family names: John, Hannah, Sarah, Jonathan, and Lemuel are also the names of her Barrett siblings.
