NOTES AND SOURCES: Barnabas Bartol [I] was born in Freeport (Cumberland) ME 5 Apr 1777 [VR p3 (Judge Townsend copy)] and died on 24 July 1839 (son of Capt. George and Jane [Soule] Bartol of Freeport) [C.R. Banks, "Bartol Family," in Westcustogo Chronicle, v1 n1 p11, reprinted in Old Times of North Yarmouth]. He died in New York [Dwelley, p22]. Vol. 3 of Mayflower Families Thru 5 Generations- George Soule (GSMD 1980) validates this Barnabas Bartol's line back to Mayflower passenger George Soule [p175], but gives DOB of 5 MARCH 1777. His line is Jane (Soule) Bartol5, Barnabas Soule4, Moses3, John2, & George1. He married "Rebeckah Eells" in Freeport on 31 Dec 1799 (Freeport VR-LDS p. 135).
