Answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How would you describe your style and approach as a therapist?

My theoretical orientation is based on the combined influences of Imago Therapy, family systems therapy, 12-Step Recovery, Relational-Cultural Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. I also have a firm grounding in psychodynamic theory and incorporate family-of-origin considerations into both individual and couples' therapy.

My therapeutic style is relaxed, supportive and personally open.

What are your specialties?

Couples' therapy, any situation involving alcoholism or addiction in the client or a family member, and workplace concerns.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. I am on the following insurance panel: Cigna.

If you have Cigna insurance, call to determine whether a pre-authorization is required and how much your co-payment is (it may differ from your co-payment for other medical visits.) Cigna has two plans: Cigna Behavioral Health and Cigna Medical. Be sure you know which plan you are on, and obtain the correct billing address for your plan.

If you are not covered by Cigna, but do have some out of network benefit, you may submit statements which I will give you for reimbursement at whatever level your plan provides. Because I am licensed, your plan should cover your treatment with me.

What are your credentials and training?

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. I received my Masters in Social Work from UCLA in 1981 and since then have pursued post-graduate training programs in Imago Therapy, Family Therapy, Gestalt therapy (2 years' training in each), and Alcoholism and Addictions. In addition, I have been a Certified Employee Assistance Professional.

Where are your offices located?

I have two offices:

124 Henry Street, in the heart of Brooklyn Heights, NY, which is just over the Brooklyn Bridge from lower Manhattan's financial district. Every major subway line comes within just a few blocks of my office. See a map.

220 East 54th Street (at 3rd Avenue) in Midtown Manhattan, near Citicorp Center and also close to many subway lines.

Do you offer a free consultation?

The first session will be an opportunity for us each to determine whether we can work well together. It will be charged at the same rate as future sessions.
