How would you describe your style and approach as a therapist?
My theoretical orientation is based on the combined influences of Imago Therapy, Mindfulness training and practices, Family Systems Therapy, 12-Step recovery, Gestalt Therapy and Relational-Cultural Therapy. I also have a firm grounding in psychodynamic theory and incorporate family-of-origin considerations into both individual and couples therapy.
My therapeutic style is relaxed, supportive and personally open.
What are your specialties?
Couples therapy, any situation involving alcoholism or addiction in the client or a family member, and workplace concerns.
Do you accept insurance?
I am not currently an in-network provider for any insurance plans, however, if you have out-of-network benefits, insurance companies will reimburse for my services.
What are your credentials and training?
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. I received my Masters in Social Work from UCLA in 1981 and since then have pursued post-graduate training programs in Imago Therapy, Family Therapy, Gestalt therapy (2 years' training in each), and Alcoholism and Addictions. In addition, I have been a Certified Employee Assistance Professional.
Where are your offices located?
I have two offices:
26 Court Street, in the heart of Brooklyn Heights, NY, which is just over the Brooklyn Bridge from lower Manhattan's financial district. Every major subway line comes within just a few blocks of my office. (See a map.)
220 East 54th Street (at 3rd Avenue) in Midtown Manhattan, near Citicorp Center and also close to many subway lines. (See a map.)
Do you offer a free consultation?
The first session will be an opportunity for us each to determine whether we can work well together. It will be charged at the same rate as future sessions.
