I finished DECLARE last week and it's an amazing book. I tried something similar in BLACK WIND (that is, take historical events and go behind them to show why these things =really= happened; it's not alternate history because events and outcomes remain unchanged, only the perception is altered) but Tim takes it to a daring extreme. He changes the whole subtext of the Cold War. The research must have been daunting. It's brilliant. --F. Paul Wilson
